Day 26/15 – Thursday 9th April –15 days of Spanish lock down
Today started at 0700.
Did my stretching and walked Majic. We ventured a little further than usual under the cover of dark. As the cockerels announced the dawn, we were already back at home! After 15 minutes of meditation I was mentally primed for the day.
It’s been a good day, despite being grey skies out there. I completed a reasonable amount of work and most importantly my head has been in a great place.
My sister sent me a message that an ‘uncle’ in Germany had sadly passed. He was actually the husband of one of my mum’s cousins. I never knew him well, but as a child he was known as Onkel Hans. I called to express my condolences to my Aunt, then spoke to my cousin Helmut, with whom I had lost contact. In fact, last time I spoke with him must have been 20+ years ago! As it happened just last week when sorting through old photos I had uncovered one of him and I when we were 5 or 6 years old!
We used to play table tennis as kids and were always fairly evenly matched. I recall one summer when I returned, we must have been 14 or so, he whipped me in every game. He had joined a local club and was playing daily as his main sport. I don’t think that’s why we lost contact with each other, but don’t recall playing with him much after that experience! Despite the sad circumstance, it was great to talk with him again albeit briefly.
I don’t think that counts as my person to call for today, as we didn’t really get into an ‘old times’ conversation. I´ll make that call to someone this evening. The lock down in Spain continues until 26 April, but there is already talk of a further extension until the 11th May…
How are you coping with the lockdown? Have you managed to catch up on things you usually don’t have time to do, or perhaps spoken with someone with whom you had lost contact?
Would be great to hear from you Anthony.
