Thursday night was “Quiz Night”!
It’s the second week we have done it and it was a blast! There are 7 of us in total – one person asking the questions.
7 rounds of 10 questions. This week Cyril was quizmaster. Clearly his questions reflected his intellect, which he had already proved as the runaway winner the week before. Ronan claimed the title this time a full 7 points ahead of yours truly, but our scores were nothing to shout about! It was an hour of great fun and some banter.
It’s fantastic to see so many people adapting to the situation and use technology to connect – Skype, What’s App, Zoom, Hangouts etc. Even my uncle of 86 is playing his regular weekly bridge game online with his usual crowd, only now they play twice a week!
Even when the lock downs are lifted and people are permitted to travel, I envisage us using technology to a much greater extent. My wife works for of the big worldwide tech firms and she usually has carte blanche to visit clients anywhere. They have indicated that they will reduce movement of their staff and encourage virtual online meetings.
Take buying a home here on the Coast – with virtual tours and live walk throughs it is possible for buyers to make a very tight short list of properties, perhaps just 3-5 that they actually want to view before making a final decision when visiting. If both agent and client invest the time upfront, it is easy to discount properties and filter down to the ideal contenders. This will save clients a great deal of their time, as it will prevent agents from driving them to the back of beyond just because they are encouraged by their companies to show certain developments.
I know in the US local clients and in the case of Mexico - international clients are actually buying now on the basis of virtual viewings only. Of course to do that, you need to know exactly what you are looking for, the know the area / location very well and trust your agent 100%.
Some two years ago now, John contacted me from Ireland via one of the property portals. He was in the process of selling an apartment in La Duquesa and wanted to upgrade. Click here to read John’s story and how he bought his apartment in Riviera del Sol...
